Hi, I’m Melissa — traveler, founder, and perpetual problem-solver, driven by the belief that your clothing should do so much more than clothe you.
I know that with the right choice of fabric, a suitable stitch, and some pattern-making magic, clothing can not only enhance your appearance, but your performance, your confidence and sense of self.
I design for people like myself, who want to feel prepared, empowered, and unburdened by the things they carry (literally or otherwise). My approach is detail-driven, intentional, and informed by over a decade of professional experience designing underwear, swimwear and activewear.
I created CALA. MIA to help my fellow overthinkers and “what if” girlies carry out their minimalist dreams to pack lighter, travel easier, and embrace the unexpected with clothing that’s ready for anything.
