If you struggle with the TSA liquid limit when you travel, you’re in the right place! I’m breaking down the best toiletry bottle, miniature version, or solid alternative of every toiletry you’re trying to get through TSA, And today we’re talking about the best travel-friendly toothpaste options.

As someone with sensitive teeth, not having the right toothpaste can be a major pain when traveling (literally and metaphorically). So the task of packing toothpaste is something I’ve probably spent more time on than most. But my pain is your gain, because I’ve uncovered some really great solutions.

1. TSA-Friendly Mini Toothpaste Tubes (Under 3.4oz)

Now, if you don’t suffer from tooth sensitivity, or don’t have a particular toothpaste preference, then you probably already know that mini tubes of toothpaste are easy to find, like these from Colgate or Crest.
These also exist for sensitive teeth, with a familiar mini by Sensodyne. (Just be sure to grab these ahead of your trip, because the airport price is particularly outrageous.)

For longer trips, or those with more space, you can even find some medium tubes that still sit below the liquid limit, like this 3.4 oz version from Sensodyne that maxes out your toothpaste allowance, or this 2.5 oz option from Colgate.

TLDR;

✅ Why I Love Them:

  • Widely available
  • TSA-approved and ready to toss in your liquids bag.
  • Great for short trips or occasional travelers.

❌ Keep in Mind:

  • Single use
  • Airport Markup

2. Refillable Toothpaste Tubes for Frequent Travelers

If you’re a seasoned traveler, you’re not here for mini toothpaste tubes, and you’re probably sick of going through them trip after trip. If you’re ready to level up your packing, and reduce waste, then you’re going to want to grab a set of these refillable toothpaste tubes by Matador. They come in a set of two, with different capacities for shorter and longer trips, and function just like a tube of toothpaste once they’re filled. The design of these tubes is truly brilliant, and once you see it in action, you’ll wonder why these didn’t exist sooner.

If you’re curious to see how they work, I’ve got a demo you can watch here.

And if you're still on the fence, you can get 10% off your first order from Matador using my affiliate link here.

TLDR;

✅ Why I Love Them:

  • Bring your toothpaste — sensitive, whitening,etc.
  • Reusable and more sustainable over time.
  • Different sizes for short or long trips.

❌ Keep in Mind:

  • Higher cost upfront
  • Sliding closure is tight to get on and off

3. Toothpaste Tablets: A Zero-Liquid, Space-Saving Option

If regular toothpaste is taking up too much of your precious liquids bag, I’ve got a solution that will save you space: Toothpaste tablets.

For years I thought toothpaste tablets were not an option for sensitive teeth, but that’s before I found NOBS. These toothpaste tablets are where I first learned about a desensitizing, remineralizing agent called nano hydroxyapatite, which is an alternative to fluoride and suitable for anyone looking to take the best care of their teeth. For me, these work just as well, if not better than traditional sensitive toothpaste.

Although it can be a bit weird to chew your toothpaste first, they taste great, and provide a pleasant brushing experience. As an added bonus: being able to count them out means you don’t have to guess how long they’ll last, and can always bring exactly the right amount!

TLDR;

✅ Why I Love Them:

  • Skips the liquids bag.
  • Easy to pack exactly the number you need.
  • Zero risk of leaking.

❌ Keep in Mind:

  • Chewing your toothpaste takes some getting used to.
  • Can be pricier per use than traditional toothpaste.

So whether you prefer a classic mini, a reusable solution, or a toothpaste tablet to free up space in your liquids bag, there’s a travel toothpaste option that will make your next trip easier.
